John de Moray (died around 1322) was a Scottish noble. He held the title of Lord of Drumsagard.
John was the oldest son of William de Moray of Drumsagard. He gained control of several lands. These included Abercairney, Aberrochil, Rossiechill, Eggie, and Egglesmachan. He received these lands after his second marriage.
John de Moray's Family Life
John de Moray was married twice. He had children from both marriages.
First Marriage
From his first marriage, John de Moray had two known children:
- An unnamed son, who sadly died in a conflict with Godfrey Ross. Godfrey Ross was the Sheriff of Ayr and Lanark.
- Maurice de Moray, who later became the Earl of Strathearn. Maurice married Johanna, who was the Countess of Strathearn. They also had children.
Second Marriage
John de Moray's second wife was Mary. She was the daughter of Malise, Earl of Strathearn. They had two sons together:
- Alexander de Moray, who became known as Alexander of Ogilvy and Abercairny.
- Walter de Moray, who was known as Walter of Glasswell.
