Early Life and Knighthood
John de Southeray was born in 1364. His father was King Edward III, a powerful ruler of England. His mother was Alice Perrers.

Marriage and Separation

Military Service
In 1381, John de Southeray joined a military campaign. This was a large journey with soldiers, led by his half-brother, the Earl of Cambridge. The campaign was in a country called Castile.
John led a group of English soldiers during this time. However, his soldiers did not get paid for their work. Because of this, John led them in a protest where they refused to follow orders. This is called a mutiny. Even though he led the mutiny, John was not punished afterwards. This might mean he was just a leader for the group, and not the main person behind the protest.
John de Southeray passed away in 1383.
