Sir John le Blund was a very important person in London, England a long time ago. He served as the Mayor of London for eight years in a row! He was also the first Mayor of London ever to be made a knight.

Sir John's Early Life and Becoming Mayor

John le Blund was part of a group called the Company of Drapers in London. This was a powerful group of people who worked with cloth. In 1291, he became an alderman, which was like a city council member.

Then, in 1301, he was chosen to be the Mayor of London. He held this important job for many years, until 1307.

A Royal Investigation

In 1303, something big happened at Westminster. There was an investigation into some missing royal treasures. King Edward I was away in Scotland at the time, fighting in Linlithgow.

When the King heard about the missing items, he sent his trusted helper, John de Drokensford, to look into it. Mayor John le Blund also helped with this important investigation. On June 17, 1303, Mayor Le Blund and other officials heard a key statement from a person named William Palmer. This statement helped them understand what happened and find out who was involved.

Becoming a Knight

On May 22, 1306, King Edward I made John le Blund a knight. This was a very special honor! It meant he was now called "Sir John le Blund." He was the first Mayor of London to ever receive this kind of award.

Sir John le Blund passed away around 1312 or 1313.
