Johannes "John" Maria van Loen, born on February 4, 1965, is a famous Dutch football player and manager. He was known for playing as a forward, which means he was a player whose main job was to score goals. John van Loen played for the Netherlands national team seven times and scored one goal. He even played in big international tournaments like the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. Most recently, he managed FC Locomotive Tbilisi.

John van Loen's Football Journey
John van Loen started his football career at a young age. He played for UVV Utrecht in his youth. His professional journey began with FC Utrecht in 1983. He spent five years there, scoring 44 goals in 116 games. This showed he was a talented goal-scorer!
After Utrecht, John moved to Roda JC in 1988. He continued to score many goals, netting 25 in 56 matches over two seasons. In 1990, he played for RSC Anderlecht in Belgium. He then returned to the Netherlands to play for AFC Ajax from 1991 to 1993.
John also played for Feyenoord from 1993 to 1995. After that, he went to Japan to play for Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 1995. He scored 9 goals in 36 games there. He returned to FC Utrecht for a second time, playing until 1998. His last club was APOEL F.C. in Cyprus. In total, John van Loen played 374 club games and scored 116 goals.
Playing for the Netherlands
John van Loen also represented his country, the Netherlands. He played for the national team seven times between 1985 and 1990. He scored one goal for his country. He was part of the team that played in the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy, which is a very big achievement for any footballer.
Becoming a Coach
After his playing career, John van Loen became a football manager and coach. He started as a youth coach for FC Utrecht from 1998 to 2002. He then became an assistant coach for the same club until 2007.
He managed several other clubs, including Roda '46, CSV Apeldoorn, and DOS '37. He also worked as an assistant coach for Sparta Rotterdam. From 2014 to 2016, he was a youth coach for Qarabağ FK. More recently, he managed VVZ '49 and FC Locomotive Tbilisi.
