The Johns River is a cool waterway located in Lincoln County, Maine. It's actually an extension of a larger body of water called Johns Bay. Think of it like a long arm reaching out from the bay!

About the Johns River

The Johns River starts near a place called Johns Island. From there, it flows about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) towards the north.

River Branches

After its initial journey, the Johns River splits into two main parts. These are known as its Eastern Branch and North Branch. Each of these branches continues for about another mile (1.6 kilometers) further north.

Local Borders

The Johns River also plays an important role in defining borders. It forms part of the boundary between two towns in Maine. These towns are Bristol and South Bristol. So, if you're on one side of the river, you might be in Bristol, and on the other, you're in South Bristol!
