This plant is found naturally in northern Mexico and the southwestern United States. You can see it from California all the way to Texas. It likes to grow in desert scrub and woodland areas.
Description
Johnstonella angustifolia is an annual herb. This means it completes its whole life cycle in one year. It usually grows to be less than half a meter tall. The plant is covered in long hairs and stiff bristles.
It has many small, narrow leaves. Most of these leaves are found near the bottom of the plant. Its stems stand up straight. These stems are covered with groups of flowers called inflorescences. They often curl like the flowers of fiddleneck plants. Each flower is white and has yellow parts in its center. The flowers are only a few millimeters wide.
