Jonathon Reuben (born 10 March 1993) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He plays as a winger, which is a position on the side of the field. Currently, he plays for the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls in the Queensland Cup.
Jonathon had a long and successful career in the Queensland Cup. He made his first big professional debut for the St. George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL. This happened when he was 29 years and 92 days old. This made him one of the oldest players to debut in the modern era of the game!

Jonathon Reuben started playing rugby league as a junior for the Norths Devils club. When he is not playing rugby league, he works as an Operations Manager. He works for the Clontarf Foundation, which helps young Indigenous Australians with education and job opportunities.
Jonathon's Rugby League Journey
Early Career and Youth Success (2011-2014)
Jonathon began his rugby league journey in North Queensland. He played for local teams like Townsville Centrals. He spent three seasons with the Canberra Raiders development team. During this time, he scored an amazing 44 tries in 46 games!
In 2013, he was the top try-scorer in the National Youth Competition. He was even named in the Team of the Year. After that, Jonathon spent another year with the Sydney Roosters development squad. However, he did not get to play for their main team.
Returning Home and Queensland Cup (2015-2021)
In 2015, Jonathon went back home to Townsville. He joined the Townsville Blackhawks for their very first season. In 2017, during a game against the CQ Capras, he scored 4 tries! This equaled the club record for the most tries in one match.
Jonathon scored a total of 70 tries in 68 games for the Blackhawks between 2015 and 2018. After that, he played for the Sunshine Coast in 2019. Then, he joined the Redcliffe team in 2020.
In 2021, he played for the Norths Devils again. He was named the Queensland Cup Winger of the Year. That year, the Norths Devils also won a championship!
Before the 2022 season, Jonathon was planning to return to Norths Devils and had a local job. But then, he got a call from his manager. The St. George Illawarra Dragons offered him a contract for the 2022 season! Before making his professional debut, Jonathon had scored 107 tries in 106 games in the Queensland Cup.
NRL Debut and First Grade (2022)
In Round 14 of the 2022 NRL season, Jonathon made his first-grade debut. He played for the St. George Illawarra Dragons against the North Queensland Cowboys. This game was special because it was in front of his family and friends in his hometown. He joined the team at the last minute because another player was injured.
Even though his team lost, Jonathon played a great game. He ran 201 metres with the ball and broke through 4 tackles. He also made a fantastic play where he caught an intercepted ball and ran 50 metres, getting past 4 defenders! His debut at 29 years and 92 days old made him one of the oldest players to ever debut in the game.
For the rest of 2022, Jonathon played for the St George team in the NSW Cup. He scored 5 tries in 16 games as a winger.
New Teams and Continued Success (2023-Present)
After playing one year with St George, Jonathon went back to the Norths Devils in the Queensland Cup in 2023. He reunited with captain Jack Ahearn, who he had played with 10 years earlier. He also played under Coach Dave Elliott for the third time in his career.
In 2024, Jonathon joined the Wynnum Manly team in the Queensland Cup. In Round 8, he scored 4 tries in a win against Tweed. This once again equaled a club record for the most tries in a single game!
Jonathon Reuben is currently third on the all-time try-scoring list for the Queensland Cup.
