Clontarf Foundation facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Clontarf Foundation is a special group that helps young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys and men. They support them with their education and finding jobs. It's a "not-for-profit" group, which means they use all the money they get to help people, not to make a profit for owners.

What is the Clontarf Foundation?

The Clontarf Foundation runs programs called "academies" in schools. These academies help students stay in school and prepare for life after school. They get support from businesses, charities, and different levels of government in Australia.

Right now, there are 158 Clontarf academies. They are located in schools across Western Australia, the Northern Territory, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria.

The person who started the Clontarf Foundation and is its CEO is Gerard Neesham. He used to be a coach for the Fremantle Football Club. The people who work for Clontarf include former teachers, youth workers, professional football players, and many others from different jobs.

The very first Clontarf Football Academy started in the year 2000. It was at the Clontarf Aboriginal College in Waterford, Western Australia. Since then, the Clontarf academies have grown a lot. They have spread to many other parts of Australia.
