Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Clontarf Foundation is a special group that helps young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. They work to support these young men with their education and finding jobs.

What is the Clontarf Foundation?

The Clontarf Foundation is a non-profit organization. This means they don't work to make money. Instead, they focus on helping young Indigenous men succeed. They get support from different groups. This includes businesses, charities, and the Australian government.

The Clontarf Foundation runs programs called "academies." These academies are in schools across Australia. They help students stay in school and finish their education. They also help them get ready for jobs after school.

The person who started the Clontarf Foundation is Gerard Neesham. He used to be a coach for the Fremantle Football Club. The staff at Clontarf are people from many different backgrounds. Some are former teachers or youth workers. Others are professional football players or come from various industries.

The very first Clontarf Football Academy began in 2000. It was at the Clontarf Aboriginal College in Waterford, Western Australia. Since then, the Clontarf academies have grown a lot. They are now in many places across Australia.
