History of Jones Soda
Starting in the 1990s
The Jones Soda brand began in 1995. Peter Van Stolk started it. He was also the head of a drink company in Canada called Urban Juice and Soda Company Ltd.
Growing in the 2000s
By 2000, most of the company's money came from Jones Soda. So, the company changed its name to Jones Soda. It also moved its main office from Vancouver, Canada, to Seattle, USA.
In 2006, Jones Soda decided to change its recipe. They stopped using high fructose corn syrup. Instead, they started using cane sugar. By April 2007, all their regular sodas used cane sugar. Their energy drinks switched later that year.
In 2007, the company tried to sell more sodas in cans. This was hard because big companies like Coca-Cola and Pepsi were already very popular. Jones Soda faced some financial challenges that year. In 2008, they had to reduce their staff to save money.
Changes in the 2010s
In 2010, William Meissner became the new President and CEO. The company also made a deal to sell its drinks at Walmart stores.
Jones Soda moved its headquarters a few times in Seattle. In 2011, they moved to Pioneer Square. In 2012, Jennifer Cue became the CEO. By 2015, they moved to an even bigger office in Seattle.
Recent Years (2020s)
In December 2020, Mark Murray was promoted to CEO of Jones Soda Co.
