Joni Anwar, also known as Joni Raptor, is a famous Thai singer and actor. He was born on August 30, 1981. Joni is well-known for being part of the pop duo Raptor and for his successful solo music career.

Early Life and School Days

Joni Anwar was born in Bangkok, Thailand. His father was from Indonesia, and his mother was from Scotland. He went to Bangkok Patana School and finished there in 2000. After that, he traveled to the United States to study business in South Hampton, New York.

Joni's Career Journey

Joni Anwar started his career by appearing in TV commercials. He worked for brands like Ovaltine and Bata. Soon after, he signed a music deal with RS Promotion. This was the start of his exciting journey in the music world.

Starting with Raptor

In 1994, Joni began his music career as part of a pop dance duo called Raptor. His partner in the group was Louis Scott. Joni was 12 years old and Louis was 13 when they released their first album. This made them the youngest singers in Thailand at that time!

The duo's name, Raptor, was inspired by the fast dinosaurs in the movie Jurassic Park. They also liked that the name sounded like "rap."

Their first album, also called Raptor, came out in August 1994. It was a huge success, selling over a million copies. Songs like "Kid Thung Ter" (Missing you), "Super Hero," and "Kum Wa Peun" (The word friend) became very popular.

Raptor performed in many concerts. On September 24, 1994, they joined a concert at MBK Hall with another boy band called Hijack. They even sang a song together called "Yha Kid Wa Ter Mai Mee Krai" (Don't think you have no one).

Raptor's Albums and Farewell

Raptor released several albums that were very popular. These included WAAB Boys and Day SHOCK. For Day SHOCK, they even wore different colored contact lenses, one blue and one green!

They also worked with other singers on a special album called The Next. After this, Joni and Louis released Raptor Goodbye. This album was meant to be their last one together. A famous song from this album was "Sayonara Goodbye."

Raptor had a big concert called Raptor Monchos Dance Concert on July 4, 1998. They continued to tour around Thailand that summer. Their very last album, The Memory, came out in May 1998. It was a collection of their best songs and some new remixes. Their final live show was the Goodbye Concert Sayonara Raptor in 1998.

Joni's Solo Music Career

After Raptor disbanded, Joni started his own solo music career. His first solo album, Bad Boy, was released in May 2000.

Joni worked with Montonn Jira to create the song "Go Now." This song won the FAT AWARD: RECORD OF THE YEAR AWARD in 2002. It was featured on his album Freeman.

He also sang "Yak Hai Ru Wa Rak Ter" (I want you to know that I love you) for the movie .... This song became a big hit. In 2003, his song "Outtaspace" also won the FAT AWARD: RECORD OF THE YEAR AWARD.

Katsue Music Group

Joni Anwar also formed a music group called Katsue. He created this group with another Thai teen idol, Montonn Jay Jira.

Besides singing, Joni Anwar is also an actor. He has appeared in several movies and television shows.

Joni Anwar loves sports, especially water sports. He is very good at wakeboarding. In 1998, he won third prize in wakeboarding at the X Games Thailand. He also took part in the X Games held in Phuket.

Joni attended Bangkok Patana School in Bangkok, Thailand, which is the same school his Raptor bandmate, Louis Scott, went to. Joni also has a younger brother named Anan, who is also a singer and an actor.
