Joseph Jules Thomas Prinsen (born 9 June 1942 – died 3 November 2025) was a well-known Dutch actor, TV presenter, singer, and writer. Many people knew him from popular children's TV shows like De stratemakeropzeeshow, Het Klokhuis, and De Zevensprong. He also hosted the quiz show Met het mes op tafel. For his contributions, he received a special honor in 2004, becoming an Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau.

Joost Prinsen was born in a town called Vught in the Netherlands on June 9, 1942. His father, Claudius Prinsen, was an important person in local government. He served as the mayor of two cities, Breda and Roosendaal.
Starting His Acting Career
After finishing his studies at the Toneelschool Amsterdam, which is a special school for actors, Joost Prinsen began his acting journey. His first time performing on stage was in 1969. He acted in a play called De kleine parade, which was directed by the famous Wim Sonneveld.
Becoming a Children's TV Star
Joost Prinsen became a familiar face to many children in the Netherlands. In the early 1970s, a show called De stratemakeropzeeshow was created by Aart Staartjes. Joost Prinsen, Wieteke van Dort, and Aart Staartjes were the main actors. This show was very popular and helped children learn about many different topics. Joost Prinsen was especially known for playing a character named Erik Engerd. Later, in 1979, the same team made another show called J.J. De Bom voorheen De Kindervriend. In this show, Joost Prinsen played Jan J. de Bom, who owned a toy shop.

Joost Prinsen was married to Emma Wildeman for 50 years. Emma passed away in 2020. After her death, Joost Prinsen wrote a book called "Na Emma" (which means "After Emma"). It was about his experiences during the year after she was gone. Later, he shared his life with former news presenter Noraly Beyer. In 2023, they even appeared together in an episode of the TV series Nood. Joost Prinsen passed away on November 3, 2025, at the age of 83. He had been battling cancer and also experienced complications from a stroke.
