José Santos Arraño Acevedo (born October 14, 1921 – died November 24, 2009) was a well-known writer and historian. He came from Pichilemu, a town in Chile. He is famous for his books about the history of Pichilemu.

Biography
Early Life and Education

José Arraño was one of 12 children born to José Luis Arraño Ortiz and María Soledad Acevedo Caro. He grew up in Pichilemu.
For his studies, he attended Los Hermanos Maristas School in San Fernando. Later, he went to the Pontifical Seminary of Santiago.
His Work and Legacy
José Arraño was a regular contributor to newspapers in Santiago. He wrote many articles about Pichilemu and the Colchagua area. His articles appeared in newspapers like Las Últimas Noticias and La Época. He also wrote for many other regional newspapers.
He became known as the most important historian of Pichilemu. He worked hard to promote tourism in his hometown. All his articles were later collected into two books. These books are Pichilemu y Sus Alrededores Turísticos and Hombres y Cosas de Pichilemu.
José Arraño also had his own radio show. It was called La Hora de José Arraño Acevedo. He read his articles on the show for almost ten years. During this time, one of his sayings became very popular:

Later Life and Passing
On November 21, 2009, José Arraño was taken to Pichilemu Hospital. He sadly passed away three days later from pneumonia. He was 88 years old.
His funeral was held at the Inmaculada Concepción Parish in Pichilemu. It took place from November 24 to November 25, 2009. He was buried on November 25, 2009, in the Pichilemu cemetery.
