José Luis Lopátegui Rodríguez (born in Valencia, Spain, in 1940, and passed away in Barcelona, Spain, on March 6, 2002) was a talented Spanish musician. He was known as a classical guitarist and a professor.

José Luis Lopátegui was born in Valencia. When he was a child, his family moved to Barcelona. He attended the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona. Later, he also taught music there. He started studying engineering, but he did not finish those studies.

He learned from famous guitarists like Emilio Pujol. He also took classes from Narciso Yepes and became his friend. José Luis Lopátegui started using the ten-string guitar, just like Narciso Yepes.

As a concert player, his musical style was amazing. He was especially good at playing music from the classical period. He played works by composers such as Luigi Boccherini, Fernando Sor, Francisco Tárrega, and Miguel Llobet. He also paid attention to new classical music.
