José Luis Fidalgo Veloso (born March 23, 1937, died November 13, 2019) was a famous Spanish football player. He was known as a 'striker,' which means he played at the front of the team, trying to score goals.
He played in Spain's top football league, La Liga, for six seasons. During this time, he played 84 games and scored 33 goals for two big clubs: Deportivo and Real Madrid.

Playing for Clubs
José Luis Veloso was born in Santiago de Compostela, a city in Galicia, Spain. He played football professionally for several teams. These included Deportivo de La Coruña, Real Madrid, CD Ourense, and Rayo Vallecano.
His time at Real Madrid was very successful. Even though he wasn't always a starting player, he still scored 9 goals in just 16 games during the 1966–67 season. That year, his team won the La Liga championship. He helped Real Madrid win the league three times in a row.
Veloso also scored three goals in five matches in the European Cup. He was part of the Real Madrid team that won the European Cup in 1966. This is one of the biggest club football competitions in Europe.
He stopped playing professional football in 1973. He was 36 years old at that time. His last team was SD Compostela, a local club.
Playing for Spain
Veloso also played for the Spanish national team. He played in four international matches over seven months. He scored three goals for his country.
Two of his goals came during the qualifying games for the 1964 European Nations' Cup. Spain eventually won this tournament, which they hosted. However, Veloso was not chosen to play in the final tournament.
