José Miguel Cubero Loría (born on February 14, 1987) is a professional footballer from Costa Rica. He plays as a midfielder, which means he helps both defend and attack on the field. Currently, he plays for the Liga de Ascenso club Sarchí.

Club Career Highlights
José Miguel Cubero was born in Sarchí, Costa Rica. He started his professional football journey with the club Herediano. His first game was on March 26, 2006.
Playing for Herediano and Puntarenas
Cubero played for Herediano for many years. In 2009, he also spent some time playing for Puntarenas on a temporary loan. He was a key player for Herediano and even signed a new contract with them in 2013.
Time in England with Blackpool
In 2014, Cubero moved to England to play for Blackpool. This team was in the Championship, which is a high level of football in England. He played his first game for Blackpool in September 2014. He stayed with Blackpool for two years.
Later Clubs in His Career
After his time in England, Cubero returned to Costa Rica and played for Herediano again. In 2017, he had another loan spell, this time with CD Alcoyano in Spain. From 2018 to 2023, he played for Alajuelense, one of Costa Rica's biggest clubs. Later, he played for Puntarenas and Sporting San José before joining Sarchí in 2024.

Playing for Costa Rica
He first played for the Costa Rica U20 team in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. This is a big tournament for young players from around the world.
His debut for the senior Costa Rica squad was in August 2010. He has played in many important games, including matches to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. He also played in the 2011 Copa Centroamericana and the 2011 Copa América.
World Cup Moments
Cubero was a part of the Costa Rica team that played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This was a very exciting time for Costa Rican football. He played 54 matches for Costa Rica and scored two goals. One of his goals was during a World Cup qualification match against El Salvador. He said this was the most important goal of his career because it helped Costa Rica win a crucial game.
After Costa Rica won a match against Greece to reach the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup, Cubero became very emotional and cried tears of joy. This moment became famous in Costa Rica.
