José Perácio Berjun, known simply as Perácio, was a talented Brazilian footballer. He was born on November 2, 1917, in Nova Lima, Brazil. Perácio played as a forward, meaning he was a player whose main job was to score goals. He passed away on March 10, 1977, in Rio de Janeiro, at 59 years old.

Perácio had a long and successful career in football, playing from 1932 to 1951. He played for several well-known Brazilian clubs. These included Villa Nova, Botafogo, Flamengo, and Canto do Rio.

He helped his teams win many important championships. He won three Minas Gerais state championships with Villa Nova. These wins were in 1933, 1934, and 1935. Later, with Flamengo, he won three Rio de Janeiro State Championships in a row: 1942, 1943, and 1944.

Perácio also played for the Brazilian national team. He was part of the squad that competed in the 1938 FIFA World Cup in France. He played in four games during the tournament and scored three goals. His efforts helped Brazil achieve an impressive third-place finish in the World Cup.

Beyond football, Perácio showed great courage. He volunteered to join the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB) during World War II. This was a group of Brazilian soldiers who fought alongside the Allies in Europe.
