Jos Luhukay (born on June 13, 1963) is a Dutch football manager and former player. He was most recently the head coach for VVV-Venlo.

Playing Career: Jos Luhukay's Football Journey
Jos Luhukay started playing football at age 15. His first club was FC VVV in his hometown. He made his first professional game in January 1981. In 1989, he moved to SVV Schiedam. After that, he played for RKC Waalwijk until 1993.
Playing in Germany
In 1993, Jos Luhukay moved to Germany. He played for SV Straelen twice. Between those times, he played for KFC Uerdingen from 1995 to 1996. While at KFC Uerdingen, he played two games in the top German league, the Bundesliga. Jos Luhukay always played as a midfielder. He stopped playing football professionally in 1998 at SV Straelen.
Managerial Career: Leading Football Teams
Just one month after he stopped playing, Jos Luhukay became a manager. He started coaching at SV Straelen.
Early Coaching Roles
Two years later, he returned to KFC Uerdingen as a manager. In 2002, he became an assistant coach for 1. FC Köln, a team in the Bundesliga. In 2005, he took over as manager for SC Paderborn 07 in the 2. Bundesliga. His team finished 9th in the 2005–06 season. He left the club in August 2006.
Borussia Mönchengladbach: A Quick Promotion
On January 2, 2007, Jos Luhukay joined Borussia Mönchengladbach as an assistant manager. He became the main manager soon after. His team was relegated from the Bundesliga that season. However, in his first full season, Luhukay led Gladbach to win the 2. Bundesliga title. This meant they moved back up to the top league right away. He left the club in October 2008.
FC Augsburg: Making History
On March 23, 2009, Luhukay signed with FC Augsburg as their new manager. He started earlier than planned in April 2009. In his first full season, Augsburg finished 3rd in the 2. Bundesliga. They played in a special play-off game for promotion but lost. That season, Augsburg also reached the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal cup.
Reaching the Bundesliga
The next season, Augsburg made history. They finished 2nd in the league and were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time ever! In their first season in the top league, Augsburg finished 14th. This meant they avoided being relegated. Luhukay left the club in May 2012 after more than three successful years.
Hertha BSC: Another League Title
On May 17, 2012, Jos Luhukay became the new manager of Hertha BSC. In his first game, Hertha drew 2–2 with his old club, Paderborn 07. In the 2012–13 season, Hertha had an amazing year. They broke the record for the most points in a 2. Bundesliga season. They won the league title and were promoted back to the top league.
Challenges in the Top League
Hertha also reached the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal cup that season. In Luhukay's second season with Hertha, they finished 11th in the Bundesliga. However, in February 2015, Hertha decided to let Luhukay go. The team was in 17th place at the time.
VfB Stuttgart: A Short Stay
On May 17, 2016, he was named the new head coach of VfB Stuttgart. He resigned from the club in September 2016. He had a record of three wins and two losses during his time there.
Sheffield Wednesday: Coaching in England
On January 5, 2018, Luhukay became the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday. He was the first Dutch manager for the club. His first game was a draw against local rivals Sheffield United. His first win came on January 16, 2018, in an FA Cup match. He got his first league win in February 2018. Luhukay was sacked by Sheffield Wednesday in December 2018. The team had won only one game out of ten recently.
FC St. Pauli: A New Challenge
On April 10, 2019, Luhukay was announced as the new manager of FC St. Pauli. He left the club in June 2020.
VVV-Venlo: Back Home
Luhukay returned to his home country to manage VVV-Venlo in March 2021. This was his first manager job in the Netherlands. He left the club in May 2022 after the team finished 10th in the second tier league.
