Joseph Kuzi (born 30 November 1954) is a Israeli diamond expert and entrepreneur. He is the founder of EGL Asia and also of Diamonds Services Ltd.

Early life and education

Kuzi was born and raised in Israel. He completed his practical engineering degree from Tel Aviv University in 1984 and an Advanced Management Program from the Harvard Business School in 2003.

Career

Kuzi served the Israeli army for 13 years before joining Israeli Highteck firm El-Op's marketing division serving on the position for 10 years. He became a partner and the managing director of UBEX in 1994. In his tenure, he led the firm grow from $5 million to $180 million in revenues.

He became a licensee for European Gemological Laboratories in the Far East and also founded the EGL gem lab in Hong Kong in 2008. This was the first-ever facility of its kind in the region. Four years later, in 2012, he set the foundations for Diamond Services Ltd. in Hong Kong. In 2013, the company release the DiamaTest, its first ever product. Its second product, the Diamond Natural Device (DND) was launched in 2019.

Kuzi became a member of the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences' (AIGS) advisory board in January 2019. His company also launched the mini Raman Spectrometer in 2019 after successful trials in Surat, India. The company also started synthetic screening services in its Hong Kong headquarters as well as in the United States. Kuzi also served as the executive vice president of the Panama Diamond Exchange.

Awards

Kuzi was awarded the Outstanding Diamond Exporter award by the Israeli Ministry of Industry and Trade in 1998. Diamond Services Ltd. also received the JNA Award by UBM Asia in Hong Kong in 2014 and 2019.
