Josh Lewin (born 1967/1968) is a famous American sportscaster. He uses his voice to describe exciting sports games as they happen! He is currently the main play-by-play announcer for the UCLA Bruins football and basketball teams.

Early Life and Education

Josh Lewin grew up in Rochester, New York. He went to Brighton High School. Later, he graduated from Northwestern University in 1990.

Broadcasting Career

Josh Lewin has had a long and exciting career talking about sports. He has announced games for many different leagues and teams.

Minor League Baseball

Josh started his broadcasting journey very young. At just 16, he was a radio commentator for the Rochester Red Wings. This was a minor league baseball team. By 1991, he became their regular play-by-play announcer.

Major League Baseball

Lewin moved up to Major League Baseball (MLB). He hosted a sports talk show in Baltimore in 1994. He then joined the Chicago Cubs' TV team in 1997. After that, he worked for the Detroit Tigers from 1998 to 2001.

In 2000, Josh received a special award. It was the Ty Tyson Award for Excellence in Sports Broadcasting. This award recognized his great work.

He was the TV voice for the Texas Rangers from 2002 to 2011. Later, in 2012, he joined the New York Mets Radio Network. He shared announcing duties with Howie Rose. Josh left the Mets after the 2018 season. In 2019, he also announced games for the Boston Red Sox Radio Network.

Lewin was also one of the first play-by-play announcers for Major League Baseball on Fox. He called regular season games from 1996 to 2011.

National Football League

During football seasons, Josh Lewin also worked for the National Football League. He was a sideline reporter and play-by-play announcer for NFL on Fox.

From 2005 to 2016, he was the radio voice of the San Diego Chargers. He left when the team moved to Los Angeles.

Josh once did something amazing in 2006. He announced a baseball game for Fox in Anaheim. After that game, he quickly traveled 90 miles to San Diego. There, he announced a Chargers football game on the radio! He called two different sports games in one day.

National Hockey League

Josh Lewin has also announced hockey games. He filled in for the Dallas Stars play-by-play announcer in 2003. This was when the regular announcer was recovering from an accident. He also called games for Fox NHL Saturday in 1998.

The Josh and Elf Show

In 2010, Josh Lewin started hosting a radio show. It was called The Josh and Elf Show on 105.3 The Fan. He hosted it with Mark "Elf" Elfenbein. Josh later left the show when he joined the New York Mets.

College Football

Josh Lewin works for the Big Ten Network. He calls college football games for them. He also announced games for Conference USA football. In 2016, he became the play-by-play announcer for the UCLA Bruins football team.

College Basketball

Lewin also announces college basketball games for UCLA. He works alongside former UCLA player Tracy Murray. He has also announced games for other college teams like the SMU Mustangs and Michigan State Spartans.

XFL

In 2023, Josh Lewin started hosting a podcast. It is the official podcast for the XFL football league. The podcast is called XFL Week in Review.
