Joshua James Payne (born on November 25, 1990) is an English footballer. He plays as a midfielder for Beaconsfield Town. Josh has played for many different clubs during his career. These include West Ham United, Oxford United, and Crawley Town.

Early Life and Beginnings

Josh Payne was born and grew up in Basingstoke, England. He went to Brighton Hill Community College there. He started his football journey in the youth teams of Portsmouth and Southampton. Later, he joined West Ham United to continue his training.

Playing for Clubs

Starting at West Ham United

Josh became the captain of West Ham's Under-18 team in the 2008–09 season. He then went on loan to Cheltenham Town in September 2008. He scored a goal in his very first game for Cheltenham. After three months, he returned to West Ham.

Josh made his first appearance for West Ham in the Premier League on March 21, 2009. He came on as a substitute in a game against Blackburn Rovers.

Loan Moves and New Teams

In October 2009, Josh joined Colchester United on a short loan. He played three games for them. In January 2010, he went on another loan to Wycombe Wanderers. He scored a goal in his debut game for Wycombe.

After returning to West Ham, it was announced that his contract would not be renewed.

Moving to Doncaster and Oxford

On July 28, 2010, Josh signed with Doncaster Rovers. He scored his first goal for Doncaster in a League Cup match. Soon after, in August 2010, he moved to Oxford United on a loan deal. This move later became permanent. He scored his first goal for Oxford from a free kick in October 2010.

Time at Aldershot and Woking

In January 2012, Josh joined Aldershot Town, first on loan, then permanently. He played for Aldershot until 2013.

In June 2013, Josh signed with Woking. He played many games for Woking, appearing in 95 league and cup matches. He left Woking at the end of the 2014–15 season.

Playing for Eastleigh and Crawley

After Woking, Josh joined Eastleigh for the 2015–16 season. He had a good first season there.

On May 26, 2016, Josh signed a two-year deal with Crawley Town. He made his debut for Crawley in August 2016. In October 2019, he went on loan to Ebbsfleet United. His loan was extended, and his contract with Crawley ended in 2020.

Later Career Clubs

After leaving Crawley, Josh signed a two-year contract with Ebbsfleet United in July 2020. He then joined Barnet in July 2021, leaving in January 2022. On March 1, 2022, Josh moved to Hayes & Yeading United.

In 2023, Josh played for Maidenhead Cosmos. Later that year, he signed with Beaconsfield Town for the 2023–24 season, where he continues to play.
