Sophomore Year: Becoming a Starter
By 2008, Joshua earned the starting quarterback job. He played under a new coach, Paul Johnson. Coach Johnson used a special "option offense" style of play. This style was perfect for Joshua's skills as both a runner and a passer.

Playing in the NFL
After college, Joshua Nesbitt was not chosen in the 2011 NFL draft. However, the Buffalo Bills signed him as a defensive back, specifically a safety. This was a different position from quarterback, which he played in college.
He was first placed on the Bills' practice squad. This is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster. On November 15, 2011, Joshua was moved to the Bills' main 53-man roster as a safety. He continued to play for the Bills until August 2012.
