José Francisco Bermúdez was a brave Venezuelan soldier and hero who fought for his country's freedom. He was born on January 23, 1782, in a town called Cariaco in Venezuela. He became a very important military leader, working closely with Simón Bolívar, who is known as the "Liberator" of South America. Bermúdez played a big part in the Venezuelan War of Independence, which was a long fight to make Venezuela an independent country, free from Spanish rule. He rose through the ranks to become a General.

A Hero Remembered

José Francisco Bermúdez is still remembered and honored in Venezuela today. To show how important he was, a part of his home state, Sucre State, was named after him. This area is called the Bermúdez Municipality. Also, an airport in the same state is named in his honor: the General José Francisco Bermúdez Airport. These names help people remember his contributions to Venezuela's history and independence.
