Journey Behind the Falls is an exciting attraction in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. It's located right next to the amazing Canadian Horseshoe Falls at the Table Rock Centre. This popular spot used to be called the Scenic Tunnels until the early 1990s. It's open all year long and is managed by the Niagara Parks Commission.

What is Journey Behind the Falls?

Journey Behind the Falls lets you experience the mighty Niagara Falls from a unique perspective. You get to stand on an observation platform and explore a series of tunnels. These tunnels are located very close to the bottom of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.

How to Explore the Falls

To start your adventure, you'll take elevators down from the street level. Once you're down, you can explore the tunnels and platform on your own. There isn't a guide, so you can take your time and enjoy the views.

Tunnels and Water Views

The main part of the attraction includes two tunnels. These tunnels stretch about 46 meters (150 feet) behind the waterfall. From inside, you can see the huge amount of water crashing down right in front of the cave entrances. It's an incredible sight!

Long ago, visitors could get much closer to the edge of these openings. However, because the gorge is always eroding, new tunnels were built further back. This makes sure everyone stays safe while enjoying the view. Now, there are barriers to keep visitors at a safe distance from the edge.

The Observation Deck Experience

The observation deck offers an amazing view looking up at the falls. The waterfall will be to your right, giving you a perfect spot for photos. Be ready to get a little wet! The deck is sprayed with water from the powerful cascade. Don't worry, you'll be given a plastic raincoat before you go down to keep you dry.
