Joyce Marie Cusack (born May 21, 1942) is an American politician. She used to be a member of the Florida House of Representatives. She represented the 27th District, which covered part of Volusia County, Florida. Joyce Cusack is a member of the Democratic Party.

About Joyce Cusack
Joyce Cusack was born in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She lives in DeLand, Florida. She first studied nursing at Daytona Beach Community College. This school is now called Daytona State College. She earned her nursing degree in 1971. Later, she got a bachelor's degree in psychology. This was from Saint Leo University in 1984.
Her Start in Politics
Cusack was first elected to the Florida House in 2000. She won the District 26 seat. She was re-elected in 2004. She worked on many important committees. These included groups for Trade and Banking. She also served on committees for Health Care and Spaceport Technology.
Winning Re-election
In 2006, Cusack won a fourth term in the Florida House. She beat Dave Hood, a former mayor. She won with about 63 percent of the votes. Her win showed a trend of current representatives winning again. In 2006, she was the Democratic Leader pro tempore. This made her the second-highest ranking Democrat in the Florida House.
After the State House
Bethune-Cookman University gave Cusack an honorary doctorate degree in 2007. She left the Florida Legislature in May 2008. This was because of term limits. Term limits mean a politician can only serve for a certain number of years. In November 2010, she won a seat on the Volusia County Council. She defeated Margie Patchett for this position. In 2014, Cusack won her seat on the council again. She beat Pat Northey in that election.
Personal Life
Joyce Cusack was married to Charles Cusack Jr. He passed away in 2009. They had two grown daughters. She also has three grandchildren. She is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
