Political Journey

She played a big part in forming the Belgian government between 2007 and 2008. During these talks, some media called her "Madame Non" (Mrs. No). From 2011 to 2014, she was the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. She was also in charge of Equalities. In June 2014, she became the Minister of Lower Education and Culture. This was for the Government of the French Community.
Until 2016, Ms. Milquet was the Vice Minister-President and Minister for Education and Culture. She is now the Chair of the Security Committee for Brussels' Regional Parliament. In October 2017, she was chosen as a Special Adviser to President Jean-Claude Juncker. Her role was to help victims of crime get compensation.
