He also produced and wrote electronic music. Some of his famous programs include NoiseTrekker and Directwave. Arguru worked for companies like discoDSP and Image-Line. He helped develop popular software like Deckadance and FL Studio 7. Arguru passed away in a car accident in 2007.

About Arguru

Juan Antonio Arguelles was born in Málaga, Spain, on November 2, 1978. He became very active in the music software world. In 1997, he started creating many useful plugins. These were tools that added features to music programs. He was part of the Jeskola buzz-scene, a community focused on music software.

Music Projects

In 2000, Arguru teamed up with Frank Cobos, also known as "Freaky". They formed a duo called Alienated Buddha. They mixed psytrance music in Malaga. In February 2002, they released their album Inpsyde. It was released through the Out of Orion label.

Arguru also created a music program called Psycle. He developed it until version 1.0. After that, he made it available for everyone to use for free. This meant other people could continue to improve it.

Working with Software Companies

From July 2002, Arguru worked for a software company called discoDSP. He worked there with George Reales. DiscoDSP is known for making audio plugins. These plugins help musicians create different sounds. Some of their famous plugins include Discovery, Discovery Pro, and Vertigo. Discovery was special because it was one of the first commercial plugins that worked on both Windows and Linux computers.

In 2004, Arguru left discoDSP. He then started working for Image-Line, another big software company. At Image-Line, he helped develop FL Studio, a very popular music production program. He was also the main programmer for Deckadance. This was a DJ software program that came out in 2007.

Other Software Creations

Arguru worked on several other important software projects.

Aodix

  • Aodix 1, 2, and 3 were early sequencer programs. They used a "tracker" style interface, like old Amiga computers. They had built-in samplers and synthesizers. Later versions focused more on hosting VST plugins.
  • Aodix 4 was a more advanced program. It was a digital audio workstation (DAW). It combined the best parts of trackers and sequencers. Arguru worked on it with Zafer Kantar and others. Aodix 4 brought new ideas to trackers. It allowed users to zoom into patterns and time music very precisely. It also supported VST plugins. Aodix 4 was first sold commercially. But after Arguru's death, it was released for free.

NoiseTrekker

  • NoiseTrekker was a Windows tracker program. It had MIDI support and an internal synthesizer. It also featured two TB303-style synthesizers and DSP effects. It had a classic Amiga-style look. The code from NoiseTrekker was used to create the first version of Renoise. Renoise is now one of the most modern music trackers.

Psycle

  • Psycle is a complete music creation program. It has a modular design and a tracker interface. Arguru created the first versions of Psycle, up to 1.0. After he released it to the public domain, other developers continued to work on it. Current versions of Psycle are free and work on many different computer systems.
