The Juan Crisóstomo Falcón National Park (also called the Sierra de San Luis) is a special natural area in Venezuela. It's located in the southern part of the Falcón state. This park was created in 1987 to protect its unique landscapes and wildlife.

It covers a huge area of about 20,000 hectares (that's about 49,421 acres!). This includes parts of the Bolívar, Petit, Colina, and Miranda municipalities. It's a place where you can find tall mountains, deep caves, and important water sources.

Discovering Juan Crisóstomo Falcón National Park

This national park is known for its amazing mountains. The highest point is a peak called Cerro Galicia, which stands about 1,600 meters (5,249 feet) tall. Imagine climbing to the top and seeing everything below!

Exploring the Park's Diverse Nature

The park is home to many different types of natural environments. You can find lush cloud forests, where clouds often hug the treetops, making everything misty and green. There are also open savannahs, which are like grassy plains.

A cool feature of the park is its "karst" landscape. This means the area has a lot of limestone rock. Over time, water has carved out many caves and deep shafts in the ground. These underground systems are fascinating to explore.

Water for Nearby Cities

The mountains in the park are very important for water. Springs flow out from the sides of the Sierra de San Luis. This fresh water helps supply cities like Coro, Punto Fijo, and Cumarebo. It's especially vital for the Paraguaná Peninsula and its oil refining industries.

The Juan Crisóstomo Falcón National Park is a great place for visitors who love nature and adventure.
