Juan José Cañas Pérez (born June 9, 1826 – died January 19, 1918) was an important writer from El Salvador. He is most famous for possibly writing the words to El Salvador's national anthem, called the Himno Nacional De El Salvador. He worked on this song with an Italian composer named Juan Aberle.

Later in his life, Cañas became a diplomat for El Salvador. This means he worked as an official representative for his country in other nations. He served as El Salvador's ambassador (a type of diplomat) to Chile.
