Juan Manuel Montero Vázquez (born December 29, 1947 – died May 21, 2012) was an important Spanish military doctor. He reached a very high rank, becoming a Major General. He was also the top doctor for the entire Spanish armed forces. This special role was called the Inspector General de Sanidad de la Defensa.

Early Life and Military Career
Juan Manuel Montero Vázquez was born in Palencia, a city in Spain. He decided to join the army as a doctor in 1972. Early in his career, he worked at the Gómez Ulla Military Hospital. This is a large and important hospital for military personnel in Spain. He held many different jobs there over the years.
A Leader in Military Medicine
Montero Vázquez rose through the ranks because of his hard work. He eventually became a Major General, which is a very senior position in the military. In this role, he was in charge of all medical services for the Spanish armed forces. This meant he oversaw the health and care of many soldiers, sailors, and air force members. His job was to make sure they received the best medical attention.
Later Life and Passing
In May 2012, Juan Manuel Montero Vázquez was attending a special meeting. This meeting was for medical officials from NATO countries. It was held in Tel Aviv, Israel. Sadly, while at this conference, he passed away suddenly from heart failure. He was 64 years old at the time of his death.
