Friar Juan de Arregui became a bishop for two important areas: Buenos Aires in 1731 and Paraguay in 1735. During his time, he played a role in the politics of Paraguay between 1733 and 1734. This was during a time of unrest known as the Revolt of the Comuneros (Paraguay). He helped guide the region during this challenging period.
