Juan Castaño Quirós (born 10 April 1971), known as Juanele, is a Spanish former professional football player. He played as a forward, which means he was usually at the front of the team, trying to score goals.
Juanele played many games in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league. He scored 61 goals in 346 games for teams like Sporting de Gijón, Tenerife, and Zaragoza. He also helped Real Zaragoza win the Copa del Rey (King's Cup) twice.
He played five times for the Spanish national team in 1994. He was even part of the team for the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

Club Career Highlights
Starting Out in Gijón
Juanele was born in Gijón, a city in Asturias, Spain. He began his professional football journey with his hometown club, Sporting de Gijón. He made his first appearance in La Liga when he was 20 years old.
In his first season, he scored three goals in 24 games. Over the next few years, he became a very important player for the team.
Success with Tenerife
In June 1994, Juanele moved to CD Tenerife and signed a five-year contract. He was a key player in their attack. Tenerife had a great run in the 1996–97 UEFA Cup, reaching the semi-finals. The UEFA Cup is a big European competition for football clubs.
Juanele scored important goals in this competition. He scored twice against SS Lazio and also against Feyenoord. He also scored 15 league goals in 60 matches for Tenerife. His team finished in the top ten in the league for two years in a row. In 1996, they finished fifth, which helped them qualify for European competitions.
Winning Trophies with Zaragoza
After Tenerife was relegated from La Liga in 1999, Juanele joined Real Zaragoza. He helped his new team win two Copa del Rey trophies. These wins happened in the early 2000s. Even though he wasn't playing as much in the second win, he was still part of the team's success.
After leaving Zaragoza in 2004, he played for Terrassa FC in the Segunda División, which is Spain's second-tier league. He later played for Real Avilés Industrial CF.
Later Years in Football
In 2006 and 2007, Juanele played briefly for amateur teams like SD Atlético Camocha and TSK Roces. These teams were in regional leagues in Asturias. He retired from football when he was 36 years old.
International Appearances
Playing for Spain
Juanele played five times for the Spanish national team in 1994. He scored two goals for his country. His first goal came in his debut game on 19 January 1994, in a 2–2 draw against Portugal. His second goal was in his last match for Spain, a 2–0 win against Canada five months later.
He was chosen to be part of the Spanish squad for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. However, he did not get to play in any games during the tournament.
Playing for Asturias
Juanele also played twice for the Asturias regional team. His first game for Asturias was a friendly match against Macedonia on 23 December 2000. He scored the only goal in that game, which was the first match for the Asturias team in 64 years.
