These included Douglass College, the Juilliard School, and Princeton University. At Princeton, she learned from a very important composer named Milton Babbitt.

In 2012, Judith Shatin received a special honor. The Library of Virginia named her one of "Virginia Women in History". This award celebrates women who have made big contributions to the state of Virginia. It shows how important her work as a composer is.
