Judith Suminwa Tuluka was born on October 19, 1967. She is a politician from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. On June 12, 2024, she became the Prime Minister of her country.
President Félix Tshisekedi chose her for this important job on April 1, 2024. This made her the first woman to ever hold this position in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She officially started her role after her government was approved by the National Assembly.
Early Life and Education
Judith Suminwa grew up in Kimpese, a town in the Kongo Central region. Her father used to be an ambassador for Zaire (which is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) in Chad.
She studied at the Free University of Brussels in Belgium. There, she earned a master's degree in applied economics. She also got a special diploma in "Work in developing countries."
Her Career Journey
Before becoming a politician, Judith Suminwa worked in banks. Later, she joined different parts of the United Nations. One of these was the United Nations Development Programme. She worked as an expert helping communities in the eastern part of the country.
After her work with the United Nations, she joined the government. She worked in the Ministry of the Budget. She also became a deputy coordinator for the Presidential Strategic Watch Council (CPVS). This council helps the President with important plans.
On March 24, 2023, she was chosen to be the Minister of Planning. She served in the government led by Prime Minister Sama Lukonde. Her own government, known as the Suminwa cabinet, was officially announced on May 29, 2024.
Family Life
Judith Suminwa is married to Roger Tuluka. He was a classmate of President Tshisekedi. They started their relationship in the 1990s when they were both living in Belgium.
