Julia Pavón (born 1968) is a Spanish historian. She is a Professor of Medieval History at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. She studies the history of the Middle Ages.
Her Life and Studies
Julia Pavón was born in 1968 in Madrid, Spain. She loved history from a young age.
In 1991, she earned her first degree in history and geography. She studied at the University of Zaragoza. Later, she continued her studies at the University of Navarra. She earned her doctorate degree there in 1996.
Becoming a Professor
Today, Julia Pavón is a full Professor of Medieval History. She teaches at the University of Navarra. She works in the Department of History, Art History, and Geography.
From 2012 to 2019, she was the director of her department. In 2019, she became the Vice Dean of Academic Planning. This means she helps plan what students learn in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters.
What She Studies
Professor Pavón is very interested in how people lived in the Middle Ages. She has studied how medieval people thought about death.
She also works on a special project called Claustra. This project is with the University of Barcelona. It is creating an atlas, or map, of women's monasteries in the Middle Ages. These were places where women lived together for religious reasons. The project aims to find and map all these monasteries from the early Middle Ages until the mid-1500s.
As part of this project, Julia Pavón helped create a map of women's monasteries in Navarra, a region in Spain.
