Julian Kostov (born 25 August 1989) is an actor, filmmaker, and talent manager from Bulgaria. He is well-known for his role as Fedyor in the Netflix series Shadow and Bone (2021). He also played Vladimir Makarov in the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023).

Julian has also appeared in TV shows like A Discovery of Witches (2018) and Berlin Station (2018–2019). His movies include Another Mother's Son (2017), The Toxic Avenger (2023), and The Last Front (2024).

Early Life and Education

Julian Kostov was born in Varna, Bulgaria, on August 25, 1989. When he was 12 years old, he became a champion in pentathlon for his age group. This sport combines five different events.

He was also an amazing swimmer. From 2005 to 2009, he won the National Swimming Championship 10 times! In 2008, he earned the special title of "Master of Sport" in Swimming. Julian has won over 60 medals as a professional swimmer. This includes a bronze medal at the 2007 Balkan Games.

Julian went to a Spanish-language school in Varna. Later, he studied international business at Tilburg University in the Netherlands.

After two years, Julian decided to move to the United Kingdom. He wanted to become an actor. He was inspired by Heath Ledger's acting in the movie The Dark Knight. He finished his business degree at Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2011. That same year, he was accepted into the National Youth Theatre. Julian started auditioning for roles and soon got a Gillette commercial. He also took acting classes in London to improve his skills.

Acting Career

Julian Kostov started his acting journey in shows made in Bulgaria and Britain. In 2014, he had a guest role in two episodes of 24: Live Another Day. In 2016, he had small parts in the movies Ben-Hur and London Has Fallen. He also began doing motion capture and voice acting for video games.

In 2017, Julian starred as Feodor "Bill" Burriy in the British war film Another Mother's Son. He also appeared in the horror film Leatherface that year. Julian has had many roles on TV. These include Timur in A Discovery of Witches and Sergei Basarov in Berlin Station. He also played Yuri Leniov in Treadstone. In 2021, Julian played Fedyor Kaminsky in the first season of the Netflix fantasy series Shadow and Bone.

In 2023, Julian Kostov played the character Vladimir Makarov in the video game Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III. He then starred in the superhero movie The Toxic Avenger (2023). In 2024, Julian starred in the Belgian drama The Last Front. He was also cast in the third season of the popular show The White Lotus. Julian is also set to co-produce and star in the upcoming film Triumph. He will also star alongside Josh Hartnett in the movie Fight Or Flight.

Other Projects

In 2014, Julian Kostov started his own company called JupiterLights Productions. This company, based in Bulgaria, makes films and manages actors. Their first movie, The Dare, was released in 2019. JupiterLights helps represent Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova in the United Kingdom. Julian is also a co-founder of another production company, Five Oceans, with Maria Bakalova.
