Early Career and Documentaries
After finishing her studies, Julie Bertuccelli worked for ten years as an assistant director. She helped make many feature films, TV movies, and short films. She worked with famous directors like Otar Iosseliani, Rithy Panh, and Krzysztof Kieślowski.
In 1993, she learned about making documentaries. After that, she directed fifteen documentaries for TV channels like Arte, France 3, and France 5. Some of these include Une liberté!, La Fabrique des Judges, and Welcome to the department store.
Award-Winning Films
Her first feature film, Depuis qu'Otar est parti…, won many awards. It received twenty prizes in France and other countries. These awards included the Grand Prize at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival's Critics' Week. It also won the César for Best First Work in 2004.
L'Arbre was her second feature film. It was nominated for three César awards.
Her documentary La Cour de Babel was released in theaters in March 2014. It was chosen for several film festivals around the world. These included festivals in New York, Rome, and Tokyo.

Julie Bertuccelli is the daughter of director Jean-Louis Bertuccelli. She is also the widow of cinematographer Christophe Pollock.
