Julie Bertuccelli is a talented French film director. She was born on February 12, 1968, in a town called Boulogne-Billancourt in France.

Julie Bertuccelli is well-known for her documentary film La Cour de Babel (which means The School of Babel), released in 2014. She is also famous for her feature film L'Arbre (meaning The Tree), which came out in 2010.

Julie Bertuccelli studied philosophy at university. After her studies, she worked as an assistant director for ten years. She helped make many different types of films, including full-length movies, TV movies, and short films. She worked with famous directors like Krzysztof Kieślowski and Bertrand Tavernier.

In 1993, Julie started learning about making documentary films. Documentaries are films that show real-life events and people. She went on to direct fifteen documentaries for TV channels like Arte and France 3. Some of her documentaries include Une liberté! and Welcome to the department store.

Her first full-length movie was called Depuis qu'Otar est parti… (meaning Since Otar Left…). This film won many awards both in France and other countries. It received the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 and a César Award (which is like the Oscars in France) for the best first film in 2004.

Her second feature film, L'Arbre, was also very successful. It was nominated for three César Awards.

In 2014, her documentary La Cour de Babel was shown in movie theaters. This film was chosen to be part of many film festivals around the world, in cities like New York, Rome, and Tokyo.

Another one of her documentaries, Dernières nouvelles du cosmos (Latest News from the Cosmos), came out in 2016. It won an Audience Award and a Grand Prix at film festivals.

Julie Bertuccelli has also held important leadership roles in the film industry. She was the first woman to be elected as the head of Scam, an organization for authors and composers, in 2013. She also helped create the Cinematheque of the documentary, which is a special place for documentary films. She also helped create the Eye of 'Or, which is a special award for documentaries at the Cannes Film Festival.

Julie Bertuccelli comes from a family of filmmakers. Her father, Jean-Louis Bertuccelli, was also a director. She was married to Christophe Pollock, who was a cinematographer (the person in charge of how a film is shot).
