Early Life and Education
Julie Cobb was born in Los Angeles, California. Her parents were both actors: her father was Lee J. Cobb and her mother was Helen Beverley. She grew up in a family connected to the entertainment world.
Julie went to Beverly Hills High School. After high school, she studied at San Francisco State College for two years. Before she started acting, she had a few different jobs. She worked as a receptionist and also taught English in Mexico City.

Early TV Appearances
Her very first role was in an episode of the classic science fiction show Star Trek. This episode, called "By Any Other Name", first aired on February 23, 1968. She was the only female "Redshirt" character to be defeated in the original series.
Julie also appeared in a 1974 episode of Gunsmoke. In this episode, titled "The Colonel", she played a daughter who was reuniting with her father. Interestingly, her real-life father, Lee J. Cobb, played the role of the colonel in that episode. She also had a role in The Brady Bunch in 1971, playing Greg Brady's high school crush. Later, she appeared in an early episode of Little House on the Prairie.
