Jun Uchida (内田 潤, Uchida Jun, born October 14, 1977) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender for several teams in Japan's top league.

Jun Uchida's Football Journey

Jun Uchida was born in Amagasaki, Japan, on October 14, 1977. After finishing his studies at Komazawa University, he began his professional football career.

Starting with Kashima Antlers

In 2000, Jun Uchida joined Kashima Antlers, a team in the J1 League, which is Japan's highest football division. Right from his first season, he got chances to play as a "side back." A side back is a defender who plays on the sides of the field, helping both with defense and attacking.

His first year with Kashima Antlers was incredibly successful! The team won all three major football titles in Japan:

  • The J1 League (the main league championship)
  • The J.League Cup (a cup competition)
  • The Emperor's Cup (another important cup competition)

Kashima Antlers continued their winning streak, also becoming champions of the J1 League in 2001. This meant they won the league two years in a row!

From the middle of 2002, Jun Uchida became a regular player, often playing as a left side back. He helped his team win the 2002 J.League Cup that year. While he played fewer matches in 2003, he was back on the field for many games in 2004 and 2005. However, he wasn't always a starting player during those years.

Moving to Albirex Niigata

In June 2006, Jun Uchida made a big move to another J1 League team, Albirex Niigata. He quickly became a regular player there, usually playing as a right side back. He was an important part of their defense.

Later in his career, his playing time started to decrease. This happened especially after 2010, when a new player named Daigo Nishi joined the team. Jun Uchida didn't play as many matches from 2011 onwards.

Retirement from Football

Jun Uchida played his last professional football season in 2013. He retired at the end of that year, after a career that spanned over a decade in Japan's top football league. He played a total of 221 league matches and scored 6 goals during his time with Kashima Antlers and Albirex Niigata.
