In the U-15 team, he played as a forward, scoring goals for his team. Later, in the U-18 team, he played in the middle of the field. He was both an attacking and defensive midfielder.

In 2004, Daigo got a special chance to train with a Portuguese club called CS Maritimo. This helped him learn new skills. In 2005, his U-18 team did very well in the All Japan youth championship, finishing as runners-up. Daigo played a big part in their success.

Playing for Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo

In 2006, Daigo Nishi became a professional football player. He joined Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo. At first, he did not play much in matches.

In 2007, he went to Brazil for training with a club called EC Vitória. He was supposed to stay until December, but he was called back early. Many players at Consadole Sapporo were injured, so they needed him.

On October 27, 2007, Daigo played in a J. League match. He came into the game in the middle and scored his first professional goal. This goal came in extra time and helped his team win! In 2008, he scored three goals, all in extra time. One of these was a winning goal against Kashiwa Reysol.

In 2009, Daigo changed his playing position. He moved from being a right wing-half to a right wing-back. This new role meant he played in 42 matches and scored 7 goals.

Time at Albirex Niigata

In 2010, Daigo Nishi moved to Albirex Niigata. He joined them on a loan, which means he played for them for a short time. At first, he was a substitute player in the midfield.

But soon, he became a regular player. He played 29 matches as a right-back and scored 1 goal for the team.

Joining Kashima Antlers

In 2011, Daigo Nishi made a permanent move to Kashima Antlers. Here, he fully changed his position to a defender.

In 2014, one of his goals was chosen as the "Best Goal Award" in the J. League. It was a direct volley goal he scored against Sanfrecce Hiroshima on August 2.
