June Ethel Stephenson (born June 3, 1914, died 1999) was a talented Australian artist. She was known for her paintings and print-making. June was born in Melbourne, Australia. She studied art at important schools there and in other countries.

Her Artistic Journey

June Stephenson had many friends who were also women artists in Melbourne. These friends included Meg Benwell, Anne Graham, Judith Perrey, and Margaret Dredge.

In 1961, June was part of an art show with four other women artists. Their names were Sue McDougall, Grace Somerville, Margaret Dredge, and Inez Green. This group show helped raise money for the Beaumaris Art Group.

Working with Anne Marie Graham

June met her good friend and fellow artist, Anne Marie Graham, at the George Bell School in Toorak.

June and Anne Marie loved to go on trips together to sketch and paint. From 1972 to 1979, they explored the Glass House Mountains during the winter months. At that time, June lived in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.

They also showed their art together in other exhibitions. In 1970, they had a shared art show at The Little Gallery in Davenport, Tasmania. They were also both featured in a 1968 exhibition called The Essentialists at the Pinacotheca Gallery in Melbourne.
