Jurga Šeduikytė (born February 11, 1980) is a famous singer and songwriter from Lithuania. She is best known by her stage name, Jurga.

Early Life and First Steps in Music

Jurga was born in a family of musicians. When she was a child, she moved to the city of Palanga, where she learned to play the piano at a music school. After high school, she went to Vilnius University to study journalism.

In 2002, Jurga took part in a TV singing competition called Fizz Superstar. That same year, she started performing with a rock band for girls called Muscat. She also acted in musicals, including Ugnies medžioklė su varovais (which means Fire Hunt with Beaters).

Solo Career and Rise to Fame

In 2005, Jurga started her career as a solo artist. She chose the stage name Jurga and released her first album, Aukso Pieva (Meadow of Gold).

Her first song, Nebijok (Don't Be Afraid), was a huge success. It was the number one song in Lithuania for eight weeks in 2005. Jurga wrote most of the songs on her first album herself. Her music quickly won many awards in Lithuania.

International Success

Jurga's second album, Instrukcija (Instruction), came out in 2007. She wrote the songs for it in Lithuania and New Zealand.

In July 2007, her song "5th Season" won the main prize at the Baltic Song Festival in Sweden. A few months later, she won the MTV European Music Award for Best Baltic Act. Jurga was the first artist from Lithuania ever to win an MTV award, which was a very big achievement.

On August 28, 2008, Jurga's son Adas was born. The next year, she married Vidas Bareikis, the father of her son.
