Justin Brooker's Rugby League Journey

Early Days and First Steps

Justin Brooker started playing rugby league in the Campbelltown League. He played for a team called the Minto Cobras. Later, he moved to the Group 6 League in the country. There, he won championships with his team in both the Under 16s and First Grade divisions.

Joining the Roosters

Justin was 21 years old when he made his first big professional game. This was with the Sydney City Roosters in 1998. In his very first game, he scored two "tries." A try is when a player grounds the ball in the opponent's goal area, earning points for their team. He played as a fullback for his first three games. The fullback is usually the last line of defense in rugby league.

Time with Western Suburbs

In 1999, Justin joined the Western Suburbs Magpies. He mostly played as a centre for this team. A centre is a key attacking and defensive player in the middle of the field. Even though his team had a tough season, Justin played very well. He scored nine tries that year, including two games where he scored two tries each. His fans even voted him "Supporters Player of the Year." He was the last player to score a try for the Western Suburbs club before they joined with another team, the Balmain Tigers, in 2000.

Playing in England

After his time in Australia, Justin moved to England to play in the Super League. He played for two different teams there. First, he joined the Bradford Bulls in 2000. Then, he played for the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in 2001. Playing in England gave him experience in a different league.

Return to Australia and Retirement

Justin came back to Australia in 2002. He played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Later that year, in September 2002, Justin announced that he was retiring from rugby league. He decided to start a new career outside of sports.
