Jwan Yosef's Early Life and Education
Jwan Yosef was born in Syria. His father was Kurdish, and his mother was Armenian. When he was just two years old, his family moved to Sweden.
Studying Art in Stockholm
Jwan Yosef loved art from a young age. He decided to study painting at the Pernby School of Painting in Stockholm, Sweden. He attended this school from 2004 to 2006. After that, he continued his art education at the Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, also in Stockholm.
Jwan Yosef's Art Career
Jwan Yosef started his professional art career in 2011. Since then, he has shown his artwork in many places. He has participated in numerous art fairs and group exhibitions with other artists.
Solo Exhibitions and Awards
In 2013, Jwan Yosef had two special art shows all by himself. One was called Painting about ..., lol at the DIVUS Gallery in London. The other was named High Notes at the Galleri Anna Thulin in Stockholm. He also took part in important art competitions that year. These included the Threadneedle Prize exhibition and the BEERS Contemporary Award for Emerging Art.
Group Shows and Art Foundations
In 2015, Jwan Yosef's art was part of a group exhibition at Galleri Bon. This show was called There and Back Again. He exhibited alongside other artists who also graduated from Konstfack. Jwan Yosef is also one of the people who started The Bomb Factory Art Foundation. This is an art studio and foundation located in North London.
Jwan Yosef's Family Life
Jwan Yosef married Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin in 2017. They announced the birth of their daughter, Lucia Martin-Yosef, on December 31, 2018. Later, on October 29, 2019, they shared the happy news of their son, Renn Martin-Yosef, being born. In July 2023, it was announced that Jwan Yosef and Ricky Martin had separated.
