Jwan Yosef (born September 6, 1984) is a talented artist and painter. He is from both Sweden and Syria. Jwan is known for his work in plastic arts, which includes things like painting and sculpture. He currently lives and works in London, England.
Early Life and Education
Jwan Yosef was born in Syria. His father was Kurdish and his mother was Armenian. When Jwan was just two years old, his family moved to Sweden.
He started studying painting in Stockholm at the Pernby School of Painting from 2004 to 2006. After that, he continued his art education at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, also in Stockholm.
Art Career and Exhibitions
Jwan Yosef has shown his art in many places. He has been part of many art fairs and group shows with other artists. In 2013, he had two special shows of his own. One was called Painting about .., Flesh and Violence, lol at the DIVUS Gallery in London. The other was High Notes, at the Galleri Anna Thulin in Stockholm.
He also took part in important art competitions. These included the Threadneedle Prize exhibition in 2013 and the BEERS Contemporary Award for Emerging Art, both in 2013. In 2015, he showed his work at Galleri Bon. This was a group exhibition called There and Back Again. He showed his art alongside other artists he studied with. Jwan is also one of the people who started The Bomb Factory Art Foundation in North London. He has a studio there.
Personal Life
In April 2016, Jwan Yosef shared that he was in a relationship with the famous singer Ricky Martin. They got married in 2017. In December 2018, Jwan and Ricky announced that their daughter, Lucia Martin-Yosef, was born. In October 2019, they announced the birth of their son, Renn Martin-Yosef. In July 2023, it was shared that Jwan and Ricky had separated.
