Jyrki Jouko Juhani Kasvi (born January 6, 1964 – died November 16, 2021) was a Finnish politician. He was a Member of the Finnish Parliament, representing a political group called the Green League.

Jyrki Kasvi was a well-known person in Finland's politics. He was born in 1964 and passed away in 2021. He spent many years working to make Finland a better place.
His Life and Work
Jyrki Kasvi was very smart and interested in technology. He earned a special degree called a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology. This means he studied deeply how things are designed and built.
He also wrote many books about computers and how technology changes our lives. He was the main editor for Kosmoskynä, a magazine for science fiction fans. He also reviewed games for MikroBitti magazine and wrote columns for Pelit magazine. For these, he used the fun nickname Wexteen the Wizard.
Jyrki Kasvi was a big fan of the TV show Star Trek. He even added a Klingon version to his election website once! He was married and had a son born in 1994.

Jyrki Kasvi was a Member of Parliament (MP) in Finland. An MP is a person elected by citizens to represent them and help make laws for the country. He was first elected in 2003. He served two terms, then lost his seat in 2011. He was elected again in 2015 but lost his seat in 2019.
In Parliament, he worked a lot in the Committee for the Future. This committee looked at new technologies and how they might affect society. He also worked with other politicians from different countries who were interested in information technology.
Besides his work in the national Parliament, Jyrki Kasvi was also a member of the city council in Espoo from 1997. A city council helps make decisions for a city.
His Health Journey
In 2003, Jyrki Kasvi was diagnosed with a serious illness called bladder cancer. He went through many treatments for his health. Sadly, in 2021, he shared that his cancer had spread, and he was receiving special care. He passed away in November 2021.
