Jáltipan shares its borders with several other municipalities. To the north, it borders Chinameca. To the east, you'll find Oteapan, Zaragoza, Cosoleacaque, and Hidalgotitlán. To the west, it borders Texistepec and Soconusco.
The weather in Jáltipan is warm all year round. It usually gets its rain during the summer and autumn months.
