Järvsöfaks (born June 23, 1994 – died October 19, 2020) was a super-fast Swedish trotter. He was like a superstar in the world of coldblood trotters! He held amazing world records for the most wins, the most wins in a row (that's 42!), and the fastest time ever for a coldblood trotter, which was 1 minute and 17.9 seconds per kilometer. His family tree included famous trotters from both Sweden and Norway.

Järvsöfaks was trained and driven by Jan-Olov Persson, who was also his owner and breeder. Järvsöfaks was also a champion dad, with many of his baby horses (called offspring) growing up to win millions of Swedish kronor in races!

The Story of Järvsöfaks

Järvsöfaks was born on June 23, 1994. His mom was Järvsö Anna and his dad was Trollfaks. He was mostly raised, owned, trained, and driven by Jan-Olov Persson.

His racing career started when he was 3 years old in 1997. It ended when he was 15 in 2009. In his very last race on December 28, 2009, he won! Overall, he won 201 out of 234 races. During his racing days, he earned over 21 million Swedish kronor in prize money. That's a lot!

In 2004, Järvsöfaks got a rare sickness called the Baron Gruff disease. This disease starts very suddenly and gets worse quickly. Luckily, Järvsöfaks got treatment fast enough and got better. He was able to return to racing later that same year.

After this, Järvsöfaks was given a special honor. He was recognized by the Royal Guards and the Life Guards in Sweden. In 2005, a writer named Robert Opku wrote a book about this amazing horse. He worked with Jan-Olov Persson on the book. It was finished just a few days after Järvsöfaks broke the world record at the Gävletravet race on July 12, 2005. He set a new record time of 1 minute and 17.9 seconds per kilometer. The old world record was 1 minute and 18.6 seconds, held by a Norwegian horse named Spikeld.

Järvsöfaks was named the Horse of the Year in Sweden three times in a row, from 2003 to 2005. He was also given the title of Coldblood of the Year twelve times, every year from 1998 to 2009.

From 2000 to 2013, Järvsöfaks also helped create new generations of trotters. He had 874 foals (baby horses) in Sweden. Some of his children, like Hallsta Lotus, Åkre Lurifax, Faksen Jr., and Fakse, became winners just like their dad! It's pretty cool that when Järvsöfaks won his 10th Swedish Championship at age 15, he actually beat five of his own sons in the race!

Järvsöfaks passed away on October 19, 2020, in Hudiksvall, Sweden. He was 26 years old.

His Incredible Records

Järvsöfaks was a true record-breaker!

  • On December 5, 2008, he matched a Swedish record set by a horse named Sabin.
  • Then, on December 26, he broke the world record for most wins! He won his 184th race at the Bergsåker track, beating the old record held by Alm Svarten.
