Kai Lenny (born October 8, 1992) is an amazing American athlete from Hawaii. He is famous for many water sports like big wave surfing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), windsurfing, and kitesurfing. Kai lives on the island of Maui.
Kai's Amazing Career
Kai first became well-known in 2012. He won first place in two big stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) contests in Hawaii.
In September 2012, Kai became the SUP racing world champion. He won the final races of the Standup World Series in Hawaii.
Winning the Nazaré Challenge
In February 2020, Kai won the Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge in Portugal. This contest is for the best big wave riders in the world. Kai won it by surfing huge waves!
Kai is also known for helping to clean up beaches in Hawaii. He is a Red Bull athlete, which means Red Bull sponsors him.
Positively Kai Foundation
In May 2021, Kai Lenny started a special group called the Positively Kai Foundation. It is a non-profit organization based in Maui.
Helping After the Maui Fires
After the terrible Maui wildfires in August 2023, the Positively Kai Foundation helped a lot. They announced that all money donated would go to families affected by the fires. Another group also helped by matching donations in August 2024.
Kai's Personal Life
Kai is married to Molly Payne, who is an interior designer in Maui. The couple recently shared exciting news. They are expecting twins! Kai announced the gender of their babies by surfing a wave with a pink flare.
