The Kaigosuit Islands are a group of islands located in Canada's northern territory of Nunavut. They are found in a large body of water called Cumberland Sound. These islands are very remote, and no people live on them, making them an important part of the natural landscape of the Canadian Arctic.
Where are the Kaigosuit Islands?
The Kaigosuit Islands are situated near Baffin Island, which is one of the largest islands in the world. Specifically, they are located along the southern edge of a long, narrow inlet known as Nettilling Fiord. If you look at a map, you would find them southwest of a community called Pangnirtung.
Another group of islands, the Kaigosuiyat Islands, are close by and run in a similar direction. Further south from the Kaigosuit Islands, there is a place called Irvine Inlet. All these islands are part of the Qikiqtaaluk Region within Nunavut. Being uninhabited means these islands are left untouched, providing a natural home for wildlife in the Arctic.
