A Look Back at Kalamazoo's History
Kalamazoo had its own post office for a while, from 1874 until 1904. This means people living there could send and receive mail right in their community. It's thought that Kalamazoo was named after a larger city called Kalamazoo, Michigan.
A very powerful tornado hit Kalamazoo on May 30, 1954. This tornado was extremely strong and caused a lot of damage to the community. Sadly, some people lost their lives, and many others were injured during this natural disaster.
