Kalibangān is a prehistoric site at 29°28′N 74°08′E / 29.47°N 74.13°E / 29.47; 74.13 in Rajasthan. It is on the left or southern banks of the Ghaggar (Ghaggar-Hakra River), India. It is on a triangle-shaped piece of land at the confluence of Drishadvati and Sarasvathi Rivers. A report on the excavations at the site were published in 2003 by the Archaeological Survey of India, 34 years after the completion of excavations. The report said that Kalibangan was a major provincial capital in the Indus Valley. Discoveries at Kalibangan include unique fire altars and world's earliest known ploughed field. There is also evidence of two types of burials, namely circular graves and rectangular graves.
